Ellon residents and community groups can meet council leaders at a free drop-in event on Saturday, 22 August 2026. Let’s Talk – Ellon runs from 9am to 1pm at the Farmer’s Market in Neil Ross Square, and no advance booking is required.
Organised by Aberdeenshire Council, the pilot community consultation will give attendees an opportunity to discuss the town’s strengths, challenges and future opportunities with council leaders, the chief executive and local councillors.
Let’s Talk Ellon: time, place and entry
- Date: Saturday, 22 August 2026
- Time: 9am to 1pm
- Venue: Farmer’s Market, Neil Ross Square, Ellon
- Cost: Free
- Entry: Drop in at any time during the four-hour session
- Who can attend: Ellon residents and community groups
The event is designed as an informal conversation rather than a scheduled public meeting. Visitors can arrive at a convenient point during the confirmed opening hours and raise the local issues, experiences or ideas they want council representatives to hear.
Because it is a drop-in event, residents do not need to commit to attending the entire four-hour session. The council’s published notice does not specify separate talks, presentation times or a fixed order for the discussions.
What residents can discuss with council representatives
The conversation will focus on what residents and community groups believe Ellon needs in the future. Attendees can describe challenges affecting Ellon and surrounding areas, suggest ways the community could work more closely together and hear about challenges facing the council.
Ellon’s local place plan will also be discussed, including how it could inform a wider Place Plan. This gives residents an opportunity to comment on existing priorities as well as identify issues or aspirations they believe should receive greater attention.

Aberdeenshire Council says the first-hand feedback gathered through the conversations will help it better understand local priorities and inform the emerging Ellon Place Plan. The council also intends to use the discussions to identify practical projects, partnerships and community-led activities that could be progressed after the event.
No individual project or outcome has been announced in advance. The session is therefore an opportunity to contribute ideas and local experience, rather than a meeting at which a specified proposal will be decided.
How to make your visit useful
Residents can prepare by identifying the town priority they most want to raise, the effect it has on Ellon or surrounding communities, and any idea for how residents, local groups and the council might respond together. Community groups can use the session to explain their current priorities or suggest potential partnerships and activities.
The event details published by Aberdeenshire Council do not include transport or accessibility guidance. Anyone who requires additional arrangements should note that no specific provision is confirmed in the notice. Otherwise, visitors can simply attend the Farmer’s Market in Neil Ross Square between 9am and 1pm on Saturday, with no reservation or entry fee required.
