Two free Family Zone play days remain in Wrexham

A dance party, breakfast cereal made by children and spaghetti hoops on toast are among the activities that have already featured at Wrexham’s Family Zone this summer.

Families now have two scheduled session days left: Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 August at the Wellbeing Hub in Crown Buildings, Wrexham. Attendance is free, no booking is required and children of all ages can take part when accompanied by an adult.

The August break changes the usual weekly schedule

Family Zone has been running every Wednesday and Thursday during the school holidays, within an event period from 22 July to 31 August. However, there will be no sessions on Wednesday 19 or Thursday 20 August.

Following that break, the final Wednesday and Thursday within the stated event period fall on 26 and 27 August. Wrexham Council News has not published start or finish times, so families should contact the Wellbeing Hub team before travelling if they need to confirm when the doors open.

The council notice also contains no transport guidance or specific accessibility information. Those details may be particularly relevant to families planning a first visit to Crown Buildings.

Free play is accompanied by food and healthy-eating activities

The sessions offer a relaxed space where families can play, talk and meet other people. A drink and snack are provided without charge, with food including fresh fruit, cereal, cereal bars and spaghetti hoops.

Wrexham Foodbank donated food for the programme, while Wellbeing Hub staff also contributed snacks. Volunteers have helped deliver the activities, which have ranged from a dance party to serving spaghetti hoops on toast.

BCUHB Dietetics and the BCUHB Health Improvement Team have supported food-related activities. During one session, dietitians helped children create their own breakfast cereal, eat it with a healthy snack and explore positive food choices through the activity.

The format gives children space to socialise while offering adults a regular place to meet other families. One parent quoted in the council notice said the sessions had “helped us do something in the holidays” and provided something weekly for the children.

Families can attend without registering

Family Zone is open to children of every age, but each child must be accompanied by an adult. Families do not need to reserve a place or complete a booking before attending.
