Stockport late-night travellers gain new bus options

Stockport passengers will see a series of Bee Network bus changes from late August, including a new link from Woodford Garden Village and overnight journeys on the 192 between Stockport and Manchester.

The confirmed changes affect local circular services, town-centre connections and late-night travel. Transport for Greater Manchester has confirmed the rollout following discussions with Stockport’s Bee Network Steering Group.

Dates for the new and changed services

The 377 bus service is intended to give residents at Woodford Garden Village a direct public transport connection to Stockport town centre. For passengers who currently need to change buses or rely on other travel options, the new route is designed to make that journey more straightforward.

The 378 and 379 changes will affect the circular network linking Stockport and Cheadle Hulme. The council has not yet published the detailed revised timetables in its announcement, so regular users should check route and departure information before travelling when the updated services go live.

Overnight 192 buses will run on three nights each week

The new 192-night bus will operate through Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, creating a 24-hour service on those days. It will provide a later connection between Stockport and Manchester for people travelling home after evening work, events or social plans.

This is not described as a seven-night overnight timetable. The confirmed late-night operation is limited to the three named nights, so passengers planning journeys earlier in the week will need to check the standard service arrangements.

Cllr Grace Baynham, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways and Transport and chair of the Stockport Bee Network Steering Group, said the new Woodford link, local route changes and overnight 192 service were “important steps forward” for travel choices across the borough.

Manchester Airport connection is the next planned phase

A further improvement is planned for the 368 route, which connects Stockport with Wythenshawe and Manchester Airport. Transport for Greater Manchester expects those enhanced connections to follow in early 2027, rather than alongside the August and September changes.

The phased approach means the immediate changes are the 377, 378, 379 and 192-night services, while airport-bound passengers should not assume the 368 improvements have already begun.

Full route details and timetables are due to be made available through the Bee Network. The council announcement does not provide fare information or final departure times, so those details should be checked once the updated timetable is published.
