Verify the kick-off time, stadium and entrance instructions

Buy match tickets through an authorised channel

Social-media sellers require particular caution. A convincing profile, urgent message or screenshot does not establish that a ticket is genuine, transferable or owned by the seller. Digital images can be copied, edited or sent to several buyers, while a barcode shown in a screenshot may already have been used or cancelled.

Pause if a seller requests an unusual payment method, asks for money to be sent outside a recognised platform or pressures you to act immediately. Do not rely on a screenshot of a confirmation email as proof. Check the club’s ticketing terms because some tickets cannot be transferred except through an approved process.

Anyone who believes they have encountered ticket fraud should preserve messages, payment records and account details, contact the payment provider promptly and report the incident through Action Fraud.

The final checks belong together: confirm the fixture on the Premier League page, review the club’s entry guidance and inspect National Rail’s live journey information before setting out. If any match time or transport detail has changed, reassess the complete route rather than assuming the original booking will still work.
