Darley Park Weekender: Derby’s August dates are set

The Darley Park Weekender will return to Derby from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 August 2027, bringing three days of live music to Darley Park. Derby City Council has confirmed the dates, with the programme intended for audiences of all ages.

The Sunday Darley Park Concert is already on sale through Derby LIVE. The supplied announcement does not state ticket prices, performance times, a street address, transport arrangements or accessibility information. Acts for Friday and Saturday will be revealed later.

Three nights will offer distinct programmes

The Darley Park Weekender 2027 is being presented as another three-part festival rather than a single concert. Friday and Saturday will feature headline performances, while Sunday will be devoted to the established Darley Park Concert with East Midlands orchestra Sinfonia Viva.

No performers have been confirmed for the first two nights. That distinction matters for anyone considering an early booking: the Sunday concert can be booked now, but readers waiting to assess the Friday or Saturday line-ups will need to watch for a later announcement.

Derby LIVE and Derby City Council stage the event, combining international performers, national acts and musicians from Derby and the wider region. The organisers have not yet published a detailed 2027 programme beyond the return of the three-night format and Sinfonia Viva’s involvement on Sunday.

The 2026 festival shows how the weekend changes pace

The previous Weekender opened with a sold-out Friday led by Billy Ocean. Marti Pellow performed Wet Wet Wet favourites and solo material, while Katrina, DJ Mark Angels and Derby act Cassette Roulette completed the programme.

Saturday shifted towards pop, with JLS headlining alongside Appleton and Chesney Hawkes. Derby band The Public Eye opened the evening, maintaining the event’s place for home-grown performers alongside nationally known names.

Sunday took a different direction. Sinfonia Viva, conducted by Stephen Bell, performed a Stage and Screen programme featuring music associated with Apollo 13 and Beauty and the Beast, as well as works by Mozart and Tchaikovsky. Vocalists, the UHDB Staff Wellbeing Choir and the Derby Harp Ensemble also appeared before pyrotechnics and a laser display closed the weekend.

Those 2026 appearances should not be read as confirmations for 2027. They instead show the format used at Darley Park: two nights shaped around popular headline acts followed by an orchestral finale.

Sunday booking opens before the full line-up

The Darley Park Concert is the first confirmed bookable part of the 2027 festival. Readers can check Derby LIVE for its current booking information, while the Friday and Saturday programmes remain pending.

Derby LIVE says future acts will be announced in due course. Updates will be shared through its social-media accounts and newsletter, making the next confirmed milestone the publication of the Friday and Saturday line-ups.
