Acid Casuals bring Omni in full to Cardiff on 2 October: what residents need to know

Acid Casuals will open Cardiff Music City Festival with their first full live performance of Omni, marking 20 years since the acclaimed album’s release. The concert is on Friday 2 October 2026 at Dora Stoutzker Hall, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff.

Ticket prices are not stated in the published announcement. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday 14 August. The show is aimed at Acid Casuals followers, Super Furry Animals fans and listeners drawn to Welsh indie music.

An album performed from beginning to end

Acid Casuals — Cian Ciarán and Kev Tame — will play Omni in its entirety for the first time. That makes the opening-night concert a rare chance to hear the record in the sequence in which it was originally conceived, rather than as a selection of individual songs.

Released in 2006, Omni built a devoted following in Wales and beyond. The album moves between techno, dreamy pop and doo-wop-inflected songwriting, opening with ‘If I’m a Selt you’re a Sunt’ and closing with ‘Bowl Me Over’.

Ciarán is known as a member of Super Furry Animals. Tame heads Sain Records and previously played with Welsh indie-pop group Big Leaves. Their return to the album puts the spotlight on a record whose live presentation has not previously been offered in full.

Cardiff Music City Festival begins on 2 October

The Acid Casuals concert launches Cardiff Music City Festival’s 2026 programme. The festival runs from Friday 2 October to Saturday 17 October and is returning for its third year.

Its wider programme includes Sŵn Festival, Llais and the Welsh Music Prize, bringing international artists, Welsh performers and emerging talent to venues across the capital. Further programme announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

Festival curator Ruth Cayford said the opening was chosen because Acid Casuals and Omni hold a special place in Welsh culture, describing the full-album performance as the kind of one-off experience the festival wants to offer.
