Disco classics and electronic music outdoors

Disco for Grown Ups opens the weekend at Binks Yard on Friday. Its soundtrack moves through disco, pop and dance-floor favourites from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, with dancing planned beneath the open sky.

The programme also includes a group lesson led by Disco Dancing Derek. Guests learn a simple routine before performing it together during the show, adding a participatory element to the summer party.

On Saturday, Haçienda returns to Wollaton Hall & Deer Park for its third year at the venue. The outdoor event focuses on deep house, electronic music and the club culture associated with some of dance music’s most influential acts and DJs.

Faithless appears among the announced artists. Tickets are the weekend’s most expensive, ranging from £67.20 to £112, so this option carries a markedly higher cost than the other four listings.

Nottinghamshire history comes alive in Sherwood Forest

Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre hosts Nottinghamshire Day Weekend across Saturday and Sunday. Rebels, Regents and Rulers combines narrated storytelling, historical interpretation, combat demonstrations, artefacts and hands-on activities for different ages.

Costumed characters trace figures and episodes from the county’s past, with Robin Hood guiding visitors through the narrated shows. The programme culminates in a 30-minute combat performance featuring sword-and-shield battles, quarterstaff fighting, outlaws, knights and Nottinghamshire legends.

Entry is free, making this the only one of the five highlighted events without an admission charge. Visitors should still account for the stated parking charges.

Panthers begin pre-season against French opposition

The Nottingham Panthers play Ducs d’Angers at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on Sunday in their opening pre-season game. The visitors compete in France’s top flight, while the Panthers are the East Midlands’ only professional ice hockey team.

Tickets cost £12. The fixture offers families and established supporters an early opportunity to see the Panthers before their Elite Ice Hockey League campaign develops.

A climbing session designed for children aged one to four

Boulder Tots at YMCA Village is the most age-specific choice in the weekend selection. The 45-minute session pairs each child aged one to four with a parent or guardian, while a climbing coach leads simple games and movement exercises on and off the wall.

The activity costs £7.50 and runs on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It is structured around supported exploration, with the accompanying adult remaining beside the child throughout the session.

Check individual listings before setting out

Visit Nottinghamshire directs readers to the individual event listings for entry or booking information. The supplied weekend guide does not specify venue addresses, transport arrangements or accessibility provision, so those details should be confirmed for the chosen event before travelling. For Nottinghamshire Day Weekend, free admission does not include parking charges.
